Fig Leaf & Toffee
The Quandamooka people are the traditional owners of Land and Sea Country which has the pristine waters of what is now the world-renowned Moreton Bay Marine Park lying at its centre. What we know as the suburb of Wynnum, settled by Europeans in the mid 1800s, stretches along its southern reach of Moreton Bay and sprawls out behind it. “Wynnum” is one of the few indigenous names remaining in the area, thought to be adapted from the word winnam for the suckers from the Breadfruit Tree (Pandanus Palm).
With the completion of the railway to Cleveland in 1889, Wynnum Manly became a popular holiday and day trip destination, reminiscent of the traditional English ‘seaside’ and in 1933, the tidal Wynnum Wading Pool was built. Today the traveler tin of Olde English Toffees has been replaced by an array of cafés and gelato shops which offer scrumptious flavours to enjoy under the spreading Moreton Bay Fig Trees – after fish’n’chips of course! If you come to visit, a relaxing stroll along the Wynnum Esplanade past the mangroves and mudflats and onto the Wynnum Jetty is a perfect end to your evening.
This fragrant candle has a smoky caramel scent with hints of citrus, amber and cedar wood. The addition of fig, peach and patchouli add to the complex layer revealed on burning.
