We know what it’s like to have a creative passion: to dream, breathe and love what you do. We know it can be a challenge to get yourself out there, push your product, get to markets, wear all the hats in your business and be ALL of the things… and we know how to help you.

The Collective Store is a unique store of carefully curated handmade and locally designed products. Our focus is primarily on Australian handmade, but we do consider products that have been designed in Australia and ethically manufactured overseas under your direction. 

Our bricks and mortar store is located at 104 Bay Terrace, Wynnum. Started in 2010, the Store is a well-known and much-loved destination for our local Wynnum community and wider Brisbane customers who love to shop small and support local. The Store changed hands in 2024 and is now run by Leanne, a Brisbane maker herself and lover of all things handmade.

We have a very dedicated customer base and following who appreciate local, unique shopping options. Over the years the Store has supported hundreds of makers and artists, and we are always looking for new and innovative makers to join our creative community.

Being a maker herself Leanne has attended many Brisbane markets with her own handmade brand, LaLaLea Handmade. She's gotten to know many members of the local Brisbane maker community, and is well aware of the challenges that small handmade businesses have, often juggling a creative passion with other work commitments or family.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR CREATIVE COMMUNITY?

If you have been approved to join us in the Store, this is what you can expect from us:

: 6-7 days of trading (seasonal, with more trading at Christmas)
: lots of exposure to new customers
: our team knows your story and can share that with our customers - we can let them know where you are from, and the why and how behind your products
: a selection of your items will be available 24/7 on our website (if you wish)
: promotion on our socials via Facebook and Instagram
: additional selling opportunities at our very popular Wynnum UpLate events that take place every 3 months, together with extended trading hours that we determine throughout the year
: overhead costs of selling are covered, including Eftpos fees, bags and packaging. We also offer complementary gift wrapping services for our customers
: ongoing visual merchandising in-store and in our window displays
: you have the option to remove product anytime for your own markets or events, and re-stock at your discretion
: we will allocate you a general display space within the Store, but we do merchandise the Store on a fortnightly basis and move product around to enhance customer experience and showcase your products in new and exciting ways
: you set the prices you want on your own items, and we will enter everything into our sales system
: we are happy to assist your customers with customer orders, if required

The Collective Store is a space to showcase the talents of creatives and makers from all around Australia, many of them from right here in Brisbane. The Store is an indoor market of creatives and makers, so for people who don't get to local craft markets it's a great opportunity for them to discover amazing things in-store.

We stock products on consignment, with each of our makers paying a monthly rent / commission on sales made each month. Goods in the Store belong to the makers until they sell. Think of our Store as a display market for your goods, where people can shop 5-6 days a week!

In addition to emailing mid-month and end of month sales reports on what has sold, we pay our makers monthly. Makers set their own prices, and can re-stock or remove stock for markets whenever they need to.

Please know that if we stock a maker who creates product very similar to yours, or that we feel would be competing with your product, your application may not be successful at this time. If that is the case, please know that we keep all applications on file and should makers vacate the Store in the future we'll be in touch to see if the timing is right for you.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Space is provided at a cost much lower than a traditional wholesale arrangement, and is more affordable than some market stall fees, and your products are beautifully on-show in our bricks and mortar store in beautiful Wynnum, on the Brisbane Bayside.

The Collective Store takes stock on consignment, from pre-approved applicants only. Monthly rental is determined by the amount of space you will require. A jewellery maker needs a smaller space than a garment maker, so we take that into consideration when determining your rent.

Rent is always in advance, and your first month's rent is required to be paid before we display your products in the Store. We generally start new businesses/makers on the 1st of the month.

HOW DO I APPLY?

When submitting your inquiry be sure to include the name of your business, links to your socials or selling platform, and details of the types of products you'd like to stock in the Store.

Once we've had a chance to assess your application and see if your products would be a good fit for the Store, we'll be in touch! You can apply at any time - approval depends upon space and the other makers we currently have in the Store.
